What is NDIS

NDIS or National Disability Insurance Scheme is basically a scheme of the Australian Government that helps people with permanent and significant disabilities. It assists people to live independently.

NDIS means the following,

National: It’s a scheme that has introduced all the states and territories of Australia.

Disability: People who have intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive, and psychosocial disability gets support. Children with developmental delays are also eligible for getting support.

Insurance: NDIS assures that if a child is born with a significant disability, they will get the support to lead a beautiful life.

Scheme: Unlike a welfare system, it provides the proper assistance to improve their skills over time.

Are you new to NDIS?

Participants who are new to NDIS can choose who gives support, where, how, and when to get it. And for the fund management, they can do it by themselves, get help from a Plan Manager, or by the NDIS.

It’s also possible to get a combined assistant from both Plan Manager and NDIS support services.

Are you eligible for NDIS?

The following requirements determine the eligibility for the NDIS:

  • You must be between the ages of 7 and 65.
  • You have to be an Australian citizen or have a Permanent or Special Category Visa.
  • Have a permanent and significant disability that makes you dependent on another person for your regular activities.
  • Need special equipment because of your disability.
  • You have to make sure whether the NDIS support will reduce your future needs or not.
